Greenbelt Dentist
Dr. Richard Duarte
Dr. Duarte says that as a dentist in Greenbelt, he gets to form personal connections not just with his patients, but also their families. For him, it’s such a pleasure to watch the people he takes care of grow and thrive as the years go by, and he loves hearing about their exciting milestones along the way. He’s ready to make sure that whatever great things life has in store for you, you’re always able to smile!
Dr. Duarte grew up visiting the dentist quite frequently because he needed a significant amount of orthodontic treatment. The more time he spent in the office and got to know his dentist, he realized that dentistry would be a great career, enabling him to make a lasting impact on people while also allowing for plenty of personal interaction. He says he always had a fun time at the dentist’s office, and that’s exactly how he wants our patients to feel here at McCarl Dental Group, PC.
Dr. Duarte’s dental career started in high school when he began working as an assistant, and he went on to graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was a Banneker/Key Scholarship Recipient. He then earned his dental degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and then completed a one-year residency in Advanced General Dentistry from NYU Langone.
Throughout high school, college, and dental school, Dr. Duarte’s own dentist served as his mentor, which he really appreciated because the journey was challenging at times! Today, as a member of the Seattle Study Club and Spear Education, he attends monthly lectures to keep up with the latest research and advancements in dentistry. Quality continuing education courses and seeking additional certifications help him consistently improve on what he does in our practice. He is certified in Invisalign and cone beam 3D imaging to help with guided dental implant placement.

Dr. Duarte’s family is originally from Honduras, and he is proud to be the first generation born in the United States and to attend college. He met his wife, Claire, while they were in college, and they have two young children, Brooke and Grant, as well as a soft-coated wheaten terrier. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and frequenting local eateries.
