Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Lam decided to become a dentist after his first semester of college. He loved science and wanted to help and interact with people as a career, plus he enjoyed working with his hands. His mother was a barber, and growing up and watching the relationships she developed with her customers really left an impression. He thought then and still does that being a dentist is the perfect career for him.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Lam started his college career at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and he went on to earn his dental degree at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. While in dental school, he completed an implant clerkship and won various awards in implantology. He was also a member of the Gamma Pi Delta prosthodontic honor society.

After graduating, he did his residency at the Baltimore Veteran Affairs Hospital, where he received training in endodontic, restorative, prosthodontic, and implant dentistry. Today, he also has experience in sedation dentistry and is a certified Invisalign provider. He’s able to provide same-day dental crowns and perform guided dental implant placement surgery as well.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?  

Dr. Lam and his wife currently live in Ellicott City and are the proud parents of two children, Mason and Addison. You’ll often find him playing and watching sports, particularly basketball, football, and golf (he’s a big Washington Wizards and Commanders fan). He also likes to stay active by swimming and riding his Peloton, but above everything else, his favorite thing to do is spend quality time with his family.
